wow, that's really cute! how long did it take you? will you be able to put it in the washing machine?
It took me 8 days to finish, but it's pretty simple so you can do it while you watch tv or sit around. It came out fine in the wash since the towels and rubber grid are machine-washable. The towels may start to fray, but I think that gives it a nice texture.
What kind of store did you buy the grid?
You can get them at just about any craft store. I bought mine at Michaels.
It came out great! This is a super neat idea... I might have to do this if I don't find a rug that I like.
Really impressive! Love it!

OK, I had no idea that it was even possible for a normal person to make a rug! Wowza! No towel in my house will be safe now. That would make a great housewarming gift! THANKS! Jules
LOL I thought the same thing blesid, I was just thinking what towels I had to make a rug. lol Love the tutorial, thank you.

I was trying to think of area rug ideas for my Son's room and now that I have seen this, I think I will try Denim like old jeans!
This is a fantastic idea. How do these wash?
Excellent! You have made pretty shaggy rugs. I think it can be comfortable for babies playing and sleeping.
I cannot find rubber grid with big enough holes like the one you used. I've searched Hobby Hobby, Joann's and Michael's :( They all just have the small ones used for yarn..
What kinda of towels did you use?
Just normal bath towels

Whay brand were to your towels? And can it go In the washing machine?
I'm not sure what brand they were. It was a mix of different ones that I found. I washed mine on a delicate cycle.
Hey love this idea, i really want to do it but I am not able to find the rubber mat online on joans, is there another name for it?
Hi - can you tell me how the rug is holding up? I am concerned about fraying. I have a big rug to make (customer size and shape) and before I put in the effort - I am hoping to hear that the towel cloth is holding up and the rug still looks good (apart from being used). Thanks. *L
I gave away all the towel ones, but the one I made out of t-shirt material has held up really well. I keep it in a guest bathroom, so it's not used regularly, but it's been 6 years and it still looks great.
Do you post the one that you made out of T-shirt material?
Here's the t-shirt rug:http://team-t-adventures.blogspot.com/2009/10/t-shirt-rug.html
Do you knot ea. towel strip once you pull it through or do you use a rug hook to pull it through ?
Is the rubber gridded mat the same thing as a non-slip rug liner? I'm having trouble finding one with holes that size. Your rug looks amazing!
I read your whole blog, Your work is really good and inseparable, Thanks for sharing. logo design
