Well, I'm the only craft blogger out there without a Silhouette, so I had to come up with an alternative. I was at Joanns one day and came across this photo fabric that you print on and then iron onto fabric. For just a couple bucks on clearance, I figured I'd give it a try!
I designed a few different fun images and then printed them all on one sheet of the PhotoFabric. Since onesies are so small, you can fit a bunch of images on one 8.5" x 11" sheet. The directions on the package say to let the ink dry, peel the backing off, and then rinse the fabric in water.
Then I placed the damp fabric patch on the onesie, covered it with an old rag, and ironed it on.
The adhesive didn't seem to stick that well and the edges were slightly frayed from the water, so I also stitched around the edges as well.
I was a little disappointed at the fraying on the edges, but some people like that texture.
I regret my decision to place the patch on the onesie at an angle to be more fun. It looks kinda stupid, but you get the idea...
I'm a lot happier with the next one that I put on a little snap-style shirt.
Every time I see this, the song gets in my head again!
So my overall review of the PhotoFabric, it's a great idea and I had fun trying it, but don't expect the best quality.

adorable! i love that it "can be done" without a stencil transfer cutting type machine. super cute. and now...pictures of baby rocking it, hello?
ReplyDeleteCute! What about using a tight zig zag to hide the fraying?
ReplyDeletePS your not alone- i don't own a silhouette either! Plus it keeps us on our toes!
I do not have a Silhouette either! YEAH for us! I have never heard of this! I always like learning about new ways to craft and new products. FUN! Cute shirts!
ReplyDeleteHow you doing my dear?
ReplyDeleteI'm loving these, as always you find the coolest things to do at home. You so inspire me to do fun easy things!
Adorable! What a fun product!
ReplyDeleteI have always wondered about that stuff. I tried the iron-on stuff before and it was a total joke. It basically peeled right off. I think your shirts turned out adorable too. I love the "hustler" one.
ReplyDeleteso cute lisa and the fact you are somehow finding time to create with a new baby? you are a rock star!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute! I need to remember this the next time I need to get a baby shower gift!
ReplyDeleteI love the Giggle one. That's precious!!!
