Felt Flower Spring Wreath

After the popularity of the felt heart wreath for Valentine's Day, I wanted to do a new version for spring. It was pretty easy to do and doesn't require much thinking, so it's a fun craft to do while you watch tv!

Supplies:
• foam wreath
• small pieces of felt for flowers
• approx. 1/3 yd. felt to wrap the wreath
• dressmaker pins (standard pins are too long and will go through to the other side)
• Elmer's or Tacky glue
• ribbon for hanging

I started out by cutting strips of felt to wrap around the wreath. My strips were about 1" wide, but I didn't measure each one. I just tried to make them all the same and it worked great. The more strips you have, the more gluing you have to do, so I would suggest using long pieces of felt to make these.
Using glue, I started wrapping felt around the wreath and overlapping each piece a little.
Keep going...
I tried to keep all the ends of the strips on one side of the wreath so they would be hidden.
Here's the finished wreath
For the flowers, I used a mug to trace circles onto the felt.
Each of my flowers is made of 3 circles and I used 4 different colors.
To make each flower, I folded the circle in half.
And then in half again
I used a pin to attached them to the wreath.
I just attached and moved them around until I was happy with how they looked.
The pins can be hidden if you arrange them correctly
To hang the wreath, I added a ribbon on the back and pinned it in place.
Here's my finished wreath! Happy Spring!

Life, Liberty, Ups & Downs

Happy Memorial Day! I was so excited to put this up because it was the first thing I bought for our new house last summer while we waited to close on it.

The horror! I finally convinced Hubby that we needed a screw in the door to hang all my signs. He was absolutely against this, but gave in when he saw how much it was going to scratch the door! I put felt stickers on the back to avoid some of the scratching.

While we were hanging the sign, we decided to change out the hardware on our front door. It was brass so we ordered new brushed nickel hardware from the manufacturer.

Here's where the whole night goes bad...I tripped over the drill with a sharp drill bit in it. NO! Horrible pain! I looked down and there was blood everywhere!

I cut my two toes on my left foot so bad that it took 2 hours to stop the bleeding! In the morning I went to change the band-aid and it started up again! So I was sitting at work all day like an idiot with 2 band-aids on top of each other and my toe wrapped up in a bloody kleenex.

The weird part is that my mom dropped a gardening shears on her toe on Tuesday and my grandma broke her toe this week too. My family is cursed with toe injuries!

And on a good note, another blog award!
This one is from Jill over at Westbrooke Drive. Thank you, Jill!

I'm supposed to share 7 things about myself.

1. I'm a girly girl, but I love watching cop shows like Cops, Law & Order, Jail, 48 Hours Mystery, Lockup, etc.

2. I was a gymnast and dancer growing up and would argue with anyone who challenged me that these were not considered sports. They ARE!

3. I have a work fish named Mr. Bubbles. Yes, a work fish which means he lives at work. Coworkers come to visit him and say hi during the day.

4. I wear a size 8.5 shoe now, but when I was a kid, my feet were huge. I started wearing women's size shoes in 3rd grade. So glad they finally stopped growing!

5. I eat a bowl of cereal every single day.

6. I've never been to Las Vegas and I feel like the last person on Earth that's never been there.

7. Hubby taught me to cook. I refused to do it until a couple years ago!

I want to pass this one on to three sweet bloggers who have left me such nice comments lately.

Festive Ornament Ball Wreath

I came up with this idea a couple years ago and finally had a chance to try it. While it looks super easy, it took a lot more thought and time than I originally planned, but it turned out so cute in the end!

Supplies:
Ball ornaments $2.00 (score from the thrift store over the summer)
Floral wire $3.00
Wire wreath $1.40
Silver tinsel $1.00
TOTAL: $7.40

First, wrap your wire wreath with tinsel to cover all the green. Tuck the ends in. If you want to add a ribbon to hang your wreath, do it now so you can see where you need to leave space.

Kitty has a slight obsession with tinsel, so he helped out
Once the wreath is wrapped with tinsel, I cut 5 inch pieces of thin floral wire to attach each ornament to the wreath.
Starting with the largest ornament balls, slip the wire through the ornament top and then wrap around the wreath. The tighter you can get the ball on the wreath, the better. You want it tight so it won't move around and change position.

You also may need to hot glue each ornament ball to it's topper if they start to pop off. Mine stayed on, but I've heard they can pop off pretty easily.

Slowly add more ornaments around the wreath until it fills up. I used the smallest balls at the end to fill in small spaces that were left. It might take some tweaking to get it how you want it. It also helped for me to actually hang the wreath on the back of a chair while I worked so I could see how it would look hanging up.

And the Chrismukkah version for our house...

Fall door wreaths

I've been dying to make a cute wreath for our front door. There are so many different kinds and I couldn't decide what to make until I saw one on Infarrantly Creative from guest blogger, A Penny Saved. I followed her directions with a little twist of my own. Here's my wreath!

Here are a bunch of other fall wreath crafts that might inspire you:
